I blame Gwyneth Faye for this post, but for some reason I feel the need to share with everyone some of the newer songs I frequently listen to nowadays, excluding the jazz songs, because I don't think anyone else cares to go down a list of Michael Bublé songs...
1. Diner - Martin Sexton. This is an odd choice for me, it's an acoustic/countryish/hillbilly type sounding song, but it manages to pull off being both mellow and ridiculously cheerful whenever I listen to it. It's currently the song that plays on my alarm clock program on my computer, and manages to wake me up without making me all irritable.. YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MurRC8dIqY
2. Feel It (In The Air Tonight) - Naturally 7. I have alot of respect for a capella groups...well good ones at any rate. But this particular one is AMAZING. Rue and I saw them live in concert sometime in May, they have members of the band that actually beatbox to make drum sounds, and have voices SO low they can be a bass guitar... This is their best song, a remake of one of Phil Colin's songs. YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5qc3qZqe38 (it may show some of them with instruments at the beginning, but they fade away by the end of music video to show just them singing their parts.)
3. We don't have to take our clothes off - Jermaine Stewart. Many of you may have witnessed me loving the song Clothes Off - Gym Class Heroes by screaming it out the open windows of a light teal SUV (heheheh ravi!), but the ORIGINAL song is by a guy named Jermaine Stewart. He's...well he's alot like Michael Jackson, except he stayed black (and cool.) Unfortunately he died of Aids after his first album... :(, this song was his hit single though, and spawned dozens of remakes.. Youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ID_N7rv-iN8
4. A Mad Russian's Christmas - Trans-Siberian Orchestra. A hauntingly epic, badass, ominous rendidition on the Nutcracker Suite. Having played several versions of the Nutcracker suite in several of the orchestras i've been part of, This is definitely my favorite one to listen to during the Holiday Season.
5. I'm Yours - Jason Mraz. Rohit, I hate you so much. I honestly don't understand why this song is stuck in all our heads, its a very simple guitar strum, no complicated melodies, a simple beat, and yet...it haunts me. Rohit got this stuck in my head.. I don't think i need to post a link to to this song
6. Lucky - Jason Mraz ft. Colbie Callait. A bit sappy for my tastes, but its somewhat catchy, in that nauseatingly cute way...I heard it while watching a play at Berkeley. YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNjeB76AVwc
7. My favorite Disney song atm, (they go through cycles..) Two Worlds - Phil Collins - Tarzan. Previously it was "I'll make a man out of you". Before that, it was Friend Like Me - Aladdin, which, btw, is a jazz number.
Thats all for now folks. Everything else, (including the christmas songs) are jazz.... or Indian, which is another matter altogether....
