Hiking At Quicksilver

Posted by Shan at 12:35 PM
Ok maybe I was a little over-zealous by saying I'd maintain the blog every day - a couple times a week seems more realistic. I've actually spent a lot of time this week taking new photos. But when I came to upload and organize my photos at the computer, I realized that there were many photos I hadn't gone through yet from earlier this summer.

A couple of weeks ago, Neelaysh, Palash and I went hiking at Quicksilver Park. Gorgeous day, cool and breezy, blue skies - perfect.

As we walked along the trail, we came across this hardcore mountain biker with his dog conveniently carrying supplies on his back. Pretty sick.

Often, people rely on vivid colors to make a picture capture the audiences attention. A bland picture can usually be improved by tweaking that saturation slider (heh heh). Which is why sometimes i prefer to shoot in black and white, and just play with light and shadow to compose an interesting pic. For example - here, Neelaysh looks like a serial killer.

The sun, shinin through a tree on the hill.

A flower. A purple flower. It made me really wish I had a macro lens. Again, none of these images have any post processing, save for some cropping and white-balance.

My autofocus refused to focus on this swaying plant, so I stuck my hand right next to it, and used it to focus, but didn't pull my hand away in time. I ended up really like the picture anyways

I'm starting a new type of photography. There's landscape photography, wildlife photography, portrait photography...etc. I'm coining and patenting photographer photography. It'll make millions!

Even if it is just another turkey vulture, their ridiculous wingspan makes them so much fun to photograph.

Especially when the sun hits them just right.

Be sure to click on each picture to see a bigger/higher res version. More to come soon!
